452 New Homes Planned For Leeds Site
Planning permission has been submitted to Leeds City Council for a development of 452 new homes on the site of a former tank factory.
Insider Media reported on the project, which will see Strata Homes responsible for the development if it goes ahead.
According to the news provider, the organisation purchased the 45 acre site known as Radial Park earlier this year. It’s now submitted its proposals for the construction of houses ranging in size from one to five bedrooms.
In addition, the developer will carry out landscaping work, as well as creating new open space, drainage and parking on the site. The Barnbow Sports and Social Club that is already on the site will stay where it is.
Bellway Homes has already developed 12 acres of the former factory location, on its western side.
The website shared a planning statement, which was submitted to the council as part of the planning application. It said: “The scheme has been designed to make best use of the site, providing a significant number of new homes which will greatly assist in meeting the housing requirement for Leeds in the short, medium and long term.”
This is far from the only new housing project currently being considered in Leeds. The West Leeds Dispatch revealed that one project to build 59 homes on the former site of Wortley High School might be stalling.
Developer Keepmoat Homes have asked the council to defer a decision on its proposals until the new year, citing a number of issues that have led to the firm considering the “financial viability” of the site.
