Houses On UK’s Most Expensive Street Sell For £17m

Homebuyers who want to purchase a property on the most expensive street in the UK will have to spend as much as £17 million to do so.

According to Lloyds Bank, Ilchester Place in London’s Holland Park is the priciest location in the country to live, with houses here coming in at £17.2 million on average, increasing from £15.6 million last year.

The next most expensive place to live is Princes Gate in Westminster, where homebuyers have to typically pay £17.1 million for a house.

Mortgage director at the bank Andrew Mason noted these steep prices have risen over the last 12 months, saying: “The country’s most expensive streets are getting even pricier, with the top 20 rising by an eye-watering £1.7million on average over the past year.”

The top ten most expensive streets are in London, with the majority being in Kensington and Chelsea and the City of Westminster.

Indeed, the third most costly place to live is Phillimore Gardens in Kensington and Chelsea, where houses sell for an average of £16.36 million.

The majority of homes in Britain do not command such high prices, of course, with properties on Ilchester Place coming in at more than 62 times the national house price.

In comparison, according to the most recent Halifax House Price Index, the average property in the UK was £234,625.

If you do not have the money to purchase a property on the most expensive street in Britain, you could still get the house of your dreams by designing and building it yourself. Once you see corrugated roofing sheets being fitted on to your perfect abode, you are sure to love your new home, whatever the price tag.
