New 33-Storey Development Planned For Leeds

The Parklane Group has recently unveiled its plans for a new development at the western gateway to Leeds – it intends to build a mixed-use, private rental development that stands 33 storeys high.

In total, INC, the name of the development, is going to provide 45,000 sq m of space, on a site on Wellington Street, which is close to the Leeds inner ring road.

The intention is to provide a mix of private-rented accommodation, an aparthotel, co-living apartments, co-working space, a bar and restaurant, a swimming pool, gym and retail outlets.

Under the plans, there will be 163 private rental apartments and 200 co-living apartments. The aparthotel will comprise 193 units.

Naveen Ahmed, director of the Parklane Group, commented: “Our ambition for INC in Leeds is to create a standout building in the North of England, competing with schemes with a national and international profile.”

This is going to be the first development of its kind in the UK and he added that they want this to be an “asset for the city”, which will boast accessible outdoor public space in addition to all the new accommodation, workspace and leisure facilities.

The organisation is seeking investment for the project, which is expected to cost £160 million to develop and build.

This is far from the only large-scale construction project planned in Leeds, with the city seeing a number of developers creating new residential and leisure facilities to help boost its appeal.

Earlier in February, the redevelopment of the Majestic Building in Leeds city centre got underway. Once it’s completed, this iconic building will provide 66,000 sq ft of workspace.

Rushbond, the investment firm behind the scheme, explained that this could either be let to one tenant, or divided between several, depending on the interest they get from businesses.
