Quarry Hill Development Gets The Go-Ahead
The first phase of a £300 million revamp of Leeds’ Quarry Hill area has been given the green light, with detailed planning application granted to Caddick Developments for its ambitious SOYO scheme.
SOYO, which stands for South Of YOrk road, will deliver new homes as well as a host of leisure, retail and other facilities. In the first stage of development, Caddick will concentrate on the delivery of 515 apartments for rent, spread across two 16-storey blocks.
The amenities for residents will include roof terraces, a fitness centre and communal lounges, the Yorkshire Post reported.
Other parts of the scheme will see a new boutique hotel being constructed, as well as restaurants, bars, co-working space and new public areas.
The other thing that makes this development stand out is the fact that Caddick is working alongside cultural organisations and other leaders in this area to make this into a “new neighbourhood inspired by New York’s East Village and San Francisco’s SoMa district”, the news provider noted.
SOYO has already partnered with the West Yorkshire Playhouse to ensure that the theatre is able to stay open during the redevelopment works.
Director of Caddick Developments Johnny Caddick believes that, once it’s completed, the buildings on New York Square will be “one of the best places to live in Leeds”.
He cited “being right on the doorstep of major cultural institutions, at the heart of a brand new neighbourhood and on the cutting edge of the latest lifestyle trends” as reasons why this development will be so appealing.
