A roof inspection is an often ignored task but is one of the more important tasks for any homeowner when preparing your home for winter. A roofing contractor can inspect your roof for broken or loose shingles and ensure it is structurally sound.

3. Get your chimney inspected

It is crucial to get your chimney inspected and clean before you plan to use your fireplace for the colder months. If you have a wood-burning fire, it will cause deposits of creosote on the inside of your chimney, which is not only carcinogenic but also highly flammable.

When it builds up in your chimney, the smoke from a fire can cause it to ignite, which in turn can cause a chimney fire. Many home fires are caused by chimneys.
